There are no accounts, so there's nothing to collect
Everything SATS has no sign-up, no login, and no user database. Nobody — including us — can see who is using the site, what they got right or wrong, or how long they spent on it.
Your progress stays on your device, full stop
Stars, streaks, difficulty settings, colour preferences and question progress are all saved using your browser's local storage — a standard, private storage area built into every browser. It never leaves your device, is never sent to us or anyone else, and disappears if you clear your browser's site data. If you use the site on a second device, it starts fresh there too, because nothing is synced anywhere.
Anonymous counting only
We use a privacy-friendly counter (GoatCounter) to see roughly how many people are using the site, so we know it's worth keeping free and running. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't collect personal data, and doesn't track you across other websites. We can't identify individual visitors from it.
It also counts which parts of the site get used: for example, that a spelling session was started or finished, that someone pressed "Show me how" on a fractions question, or that the Reading Practice Pack was downloaded. These are just totals, like a tally chart. They never include answers, scores, names or anything typed in, and they can't be linked back to a child or a device. They tell us which topics are hardest and which features are worth improving.
No ads, no trackers, nothing sold
There are no advertising scripts, no third-party trackers, and no analytics beyond the anonymous counter above. We don't sell, share, or rent any data to anyone, for the simple reason that we don't have any to sell.
The "chip in on Ko-fi" link at the bottom of each page is just a plain link. Nothing from Ko-fi loads on this site. If you click it you'll be on Ko-fi's own website, and Ko-fi's privacy policy applies there. We only count that the link was clicked, the same anonymous way as everything else.
Links to other websites
Some pages link out to genuinely useful external resources — BBC Bitesize, gov.uk, BorrowBox, Childline and similar. Once you click through, you're on their site and their own privacy policy applies, not this one.
